The Minimum Income Requirement for partners has always posed problems for people of limited means. But far more will be affected by the upcoming dramatic raise requiring income of £29,000, due to take effect in Spring 2024. Prudent advisors and clients need to start their planning now.

Mark Symes, Garden Court Chambers
Mark Symes provides advice and representation in all areas of immigration, asylum, and human rights law, including European Union free movement law. He has represented clients in every court from the Tribunal to the Supreme Court, and the European Court of Human Rights. Mark deals with work ranging from business immigration and entry clearance representations and appeals, to refugee and criminal deportation cases. Georgie Rea, Garden Court Chambers
Georgie is developing a broad public law practice, whilst specialising in immigration & asylum, housing, education, and community care law. Georgie has successfully represented lay clients in statutory appeals before the Immigration and Asylum Tribunals and drafted Grounds of Appeal in complex cases. She has experience in a wide range of immigration law matters, including complex asylum, deportation, human rights appeals, public law challenges to fresh claim decisions, and more novel challenges to the passport office. Georgie was shortlisted as a finalist for Young Pro Bono Barrister of the Year in 2022.
