Speakers

Liz Davies KC, Garden Court Chambers (Chair)
Liz is an accredited mediator with over 20 years of practical litigation experience. She is well-known for her ability to establish good relationships with parties. She mediates disputes concerning any subject. As a former solicitor and barrister, Liz is well aware of the stresses of litigation on all parties concerned. She has a reputation for helping parties develop realistic and practical solutions. Liz provides seminars on the benefits of mediation and chaired the Mediation and Judicial Review Workshop held at Garden Court’s Public Law Conference in 2014.

David Watkinson, Mediator, Garden Court Chambers
David practiced as a barrister for 40 years (1973–2012), focusing on housing and planning law, and represented clients in courts at all levels, including the UK Supreme Court. His cases involved land disputes, housing issues, and equality matters. Since qualifying as a mediator, David has utilised his advocacy and negotiation skills to assist parties in resolving disputes. He has mediated in cases such as contractual disagreements, housing conflicts, possession claims, and other housing-related matters, working with individuals, local authorities, and housing associations for fair outcomes.

Marina Sergides, Barrister, Garden Court Chambers
Marina is a barrister and CEDR accredited mediator with 18 years of wide-ranging civil and public law expertise. In her legal practice Marina is adept at dealing with negotiations in, but not limited to, disputes arising in housing, homelessness, disrepair, possession, community care, public law and civil actions. Marina also has experience in Inquest and Prison Law, working closely with bereaved families. While her legal experience makes Marina suitable for housing and public law claims, Marina’s mediation practice encompasses other areas where civil and commercial disputes arise. 

Lyndsey Sambrook-Wright, Barrister, Garden Court Chambers
Lyndsey is an accredited family mediator who deals with all family law issues and intergenerational disputes. Lyndsey is known for her calm manner and ability to take an impartial and empathetic approach to disputes. Practising as a barrister since 2008 and as a mediator since 2014, Lyndsey has found her experience in family law has been vital in assisting parties to reach resolution. Her knowledge of the family law courts and Court of Protection, as well as her considerable experience of contested proceedings generally, makes her particularly well-placed to help parties reach a workable resolution.
