Garden Court Chambers is hosting an in-person event for CPS, defence and community care Kent-based solicitors exploring how to address issues that arise in criminal cases when putative children are age assessed as adults in Canterbury.
Come along to understand local authority duties. Merton compliant age assessments. What practical steps to take when putative children come into contact with the justice system and working with local authorities.
The issue of age disputes has become prevalent in Kent due to the arrival of people in small boats. Using case studies and recent research, we will uncover the issues and explore practical solutions.
Following this workshop, Garden Court Chambers, Humans for Rights Network, Coram Children’s Legal Centre, Youth Practitioner’s Association and Child Rights & Youth Justice aim to produce a legal guide about age disputed people in the justice system.
