The School Inclusion Project (SIP) arranged a new online-only meeting to promote the new Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) funding for race-discrimination-related Independent Review Panel (IRP) hearings.

Stephanie Harrison KC, Joint Head of Garden Court Chambers (Chair)
Stephanie is a leading public law practitioner who has appeared at all court levels. Her multi-disciplinary practice spans the breadth of public law and civil liberties. Stephanie's cases include those arising from unlawful detention, national security, official misconduct, abuse of power, child sexual exploitation, equality and discrimination, minority rights, education law and civil rights protest and injunctions.

Ollie Persey, Barrister, Garden Court Chambers
Ollie is a claimant public law barrister specialising in education, community care, mental capacity and mental health law. Ollie is deeply committed to challenging discrimination against marginalised children and young people in the education system. He has significant expertise in discrimination law and is a contributing author of the new Legal Action Group textbook, ‘Discrimination in Public Law’. Ollie is ranked by the Legal 500 2023 as a Tier 1 Rising Star in Education Law. 

Nadia O'Mara, Barrister, Garden Court Chambers
Nadia joined Garden Court as a tenant following successful completion of pupillage in November 2022. She has a broad public law and civil liberties practice, with a background in the human rights sector and academia. Nadia regularly acts on behalf of young people and parents challenging decisions to permanently exclude from school. 

Dan Rosenberg, Solicitor, Simpson Millar
Dan has been with Simpson Millar since 2010 and became a Partner in 2014. As a leading member of their Public Law department, he works across a wide range of areas in Education Law and Community Care, with a particular interest in work for children and young people.

Sabrina Simpson, Solicitor Just for Kids Law
Sabrina joined Just for Kids Law as an Education Solicitor in August 2021. Sabrina became a solicitor in 2005 and has had a very diverse career in law, which has included her working in the USA where she qualified as a New York Attorney. Throughout her career, Sabrina has been committed to supporting charities and children’s rights.

Abigail Hamer, Solicitor, Equality and Human Rights Commission
Abi joined the Equality and Human Rights Commission earlier this year, having worked in private practice as a children and family lawyer, and subsequently worked in a regulatory capacity for the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales. She has a particular interest in matters concerning children and young people and works across areas including education law and children’s public law, as well as currently working on the Commission’s Race Fund.
