The seminar looks at two recent cases, SG v DWP and Nzolamesco v Westminster CC, in which the Supreme Court highlighted the importance of examining the interests of children in the housing or housing related contexts.
This seminar will cover:
- The impact of the judgment in Nzolamesco v Westminster CC with regards to obligations under s.11 of the Children Act 2004
- The impact of the judgment in SG v DWP in relation to benefit caps violating the UN convention on the rights of the child
- A look at the current state of the law
- The relationship between the international and domestic duties of the law and how they can be deployed in English Courts
- How this is applicable to those who are in need of housing
