Over the past 18 months there have been a succession of cases at the appellate level examining the duty on the local authority to have due regard to equality objectives when making decisions on homelessness applications, possession and eviction.
The cases have raised more questions than answers about the approach to be taken by local authorities in decision-making concerning people with protected characteristics.
This webinar examined the way that the Public Sector Equality Duty has been treated by the courts in the housing context, consider its implication for tenants with protected characteristics and the remedies that individuals can obtain.
