Alex Taylor-Camara of the Garden Court Crime Team acted for the defendant, instructed by Abdul Mojid and Tarjana Hussain at Wainwright & Cummins LLP.
Alex secured the only acquittal for the defendant in a five-week fraud trial in the case involving three other co-defendants.
The case concerned a Ponzi-type fraud. The defendant was accused of knowingly participating in a sophisticated Ponzi scheme operating as a boiler room fraud, where thousands of people were cold-called to invest their savings with an investment company allegedly based in the city.
The scheme resulted in over £1.2 million being obtained during the fraud. The fraud concerned binary option investments, promising those who invested a 30% a month return on their investments.
