AN INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY EVENT

8th March 2010 from 6:00pm - 8:45pm at Garden Court Chambers

AP LAW, OXFAM and GARDEN COURT CHAMBERS presents

Honouring the Victims of Forced Marriage and Honour Killings:
Moving from Awareness to Action

An interactive seminar aimed at creating a multi-agency approach

This seminar aims to take us from public awareness, debates about legislation and understanding cultural and religious rationale - to a practical conversation amongst all practitioners working in the areas of forced marriage and honour based violence. Discussion around questions like: why aren't women using the FMPO and lawyers; what is happening in the educational context; what the Forced Marriage Unit and Consulates actually do in a forced marriage case; how effectively are practitioners working together to help victims.

Between 6:00pm - 6:30pm in celebration of International Women's Day artist Monica Ross will be performing a solo recitation of "Anniversary - An Act of Memory: Recitations from Memory of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights."
