A group of Gypsies and Travellers, along with supporters and representatives, has recently launched the No Mad Laws campaign.
The campaign aims to bring attention to the devastating effects that the legal aid cuts and reforms to judicial review threaten to have upon members of the Gypsy and Traveller communities.
In response to the reforms included in the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012, the No Mad Laws campaign makes four recommendations which can be found in its press release. Further information about the campaign and its supporters can be found in the briefing paper on the attack of legal aid.
To take action, you can sign the No Mad Laws petition.
Marc Willers QC, a member of Garden Court’s Romani Gypsy and Traveller Rights Team, is part of the No Mad Laws steering group.
