This morning the Court of Appeal handed down judgment in the appeal against conviction for rape in the case of professional footballer Ched Evans.
The Court quashed the 2012 conviction holding that it was unsafe. A retrial has been ordered. Mr Evans was represented by Kieran Vaughan QC and David Emanuel of Garden Court Chambers’ Criminal Appeals Team.
An appeal was only possible because the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) referred the conviction back to the Court of Appeal after receiving a detailed application drafted by David in July 2014.
The appeal has received extensive media coverage, including by the BBC, the Guardian and Sky News.
Kieran Vaughan QC and David Emanuel are instructed by Shaun Draycott of Draycott Browne.
