Garden Court's David Jones joined the panel for the Commonwealth Forum UK organised by Britafrique and Affirm Human Rights UK at the House of Commons on Monday 1 May.
The panel was composed of a variety of solicitors, barristers, academics and NGO representatives and the session was hosted by Michelle Akintoye and moderated by Mr Tunde Alabi.
David Jones delivered an introductory speech on common claims against the Home Office, while others covered topics such as immigration appeals, human rights and United Kingdom obligations, Commonwealth and rekindling the relationship with the UK, and finally the current concession for Commonwealth nationals in the UK since 1973.
Following the introductory speeches, there was a discussion where the floor was opened and attendees were able to share their experiences, ask questions and respond to the panelists' speeches.
