David Renton has launched an employment law blog, where he will comment on his experiences of practising in the employment tribunals on behalf of workers. The launch comes ahead of the publication of David's book Struck Out: Why Employment Tribunals Fail Workers and What Can be Done, due out next month.
While many employment law blogs and bulletins already exist, including the Garden Court Employment Bulletin, David's Struck Out blog is unusual in that it focuses on the experiences of workers seeking legal redress in the UK, and the shortcomings of the tribunal system.
Commenting on the launch, David said "Employment Tribunals are under scrutiny in a way they never have been before. Government plans for them, including the introduction of hearing fees, are likely to take the Tribunals out of the reach of all but a small minority of potential claimants. I will use the blog to report the day to day experiences of a busy employment practitioner. I hope to puncture more than a few press myths along the way."
Struck Out will be published in March 2012, and can be ordered online from Pluto Press.
David Renton is a member of the Garden Court Employment, Discrimination and Professional Regulation Team.
