Garden Court's Dexter Dias QC this week presented his award-winning restraint death research to the Moral Cognition Lab at Harvard University.
Dexter's research arises from the inquest into the death of Gareth Myatt, aged 15, in which he led Brenda Campbell, also of Garden Court Chambers. The inquest jury verdict devastatingly implicated not only the prison but also governmental agencies in Gareth's death following physical restraint. Dexter subsequently examined the underlying mechanisms leading to the use of child restraint through research at Cambridge University and is now exploring the psychological aspects of these coercive practices at Harvard.
You can follow the progress of Dexter's research here on Twitter.
Dexter Dias QC and Brenda Campbell are both members of the Garden Court Chambers Inquests Team.
