Chambers would like to offer its condolences on the untimely death of Bill Nash.
Bill was a stalwart of the committed legal aid criminal defence community and worked for nearly 50 years as a defence solicitor. He was a fearless advocate and great character who continued to appear regularly at Westminster and Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Courts.
Bill started his career as a legal officer at the National Council for Civil Liberties (now Liberty). He later founded Nash and Dowell solicitors before joining BSB Solicitors.
Members of chambers have described him as: “deceptively chaotic”; “he could appear outwardly shambolic but was as sharp as a tack”; “he was utterly dedicated to all his clients. They always came first”; “he was a gentleman in the true sense of the word”.
He will be remembered with great fondness by all of us who knew and worked with him.
