The Legal Services Act sets out a framework for reform and paves the way for radical changes to the way legal services will be offered in future, threatening the independence of both solicitors and the Bar and their service to the public. Garden Court Chambers, in its long-standing commitment to social justice and to access to justice, is resolutely opposed to the principle that market forces alone are an appropriate regulatory mechanism to underpin a model for publicly funded work.
