The LCCSA Annual Autumn Conference took place in Seville from 7-8 October.
Taking place over a long weekend in Seville, Garden Court Chambers barristers gave a series of lectures on criminal law topics:
- Di Middleton QC gave a practical talk on the thorny topic of billing electronic evidence and provided the audience with well-received tips and guidance on how to successfully bill complex publicly-funded criminal cases
- Sam Parham spoke about the horrors of modern slavery and human trafficking and gave practical advice to practitioners on how to represent someone who is believed to be a victim of human trafficking.
- Alex Rose spoke on disclosure in criminal trials and the difficulties defence practitioners face in obtaining the material necessary to ensure a fair trial for their clients
- Jo Cecil gave an in-depth lecture on strategic and appellate litigation, including a detailed analysis of the Jogee case on joint enterprise and its consequences
Also lecturing at the conference was Professor David Omerod QC of UCL and co-sponsoring the event were forensic science experts, Forensic Equity.
