We are thrilled to announce that Julia Lowis has joined the Civil Liberties, Public Law and Immigration Teams at Garden Court Chambers.
Julia was called to the Bar in 2013. She then worked in a mixed civil and public law chambers and now joins us as a tenant. Julia is Assistant to the Inspector in the Iraq Fatality Investigations, conducted pursuant to Article 2 ECHR. She practices in civil liberties, public law and immigration matters, with particular expertise in international human rights law, including international refugee law, and the ECHR. She has particular expertise in regional and international human rights, and has worked at the Council of Europe.
In August 2018 she completed a Masters in International Human Rights Law at Oxford, and has worked at the California Appellate Project assisting with the appeals of indigent defendants on death row. Julia is a member of the committee of Refugee Legal Support Athens, awarded the Lexis Nexis Pro Bono Award 2018, which sends experienced immigration practitioners to Greece to provide legal advice and representation for asylum seekers.
