The jury returned unanimous not guilty verdicts on allegations of murder, kidnapping and false imprisonment against a defendant represented by Icah Peart KC, leading Thalia Maragh. After a trial lasting just under 12 weeks involving six defendants at the Central Criminal Court. Five of the defendants were on trial for murder and other charges and the sixth defendant faced a single charge of perverting the course justice.
The case involved allegations of the kidnapping of the deceased and his partner from his home address in Enfield and taking them both to a location in Tottenham, North London where he was tortured and killed. His partner was detained at the location for a number of days before being released.
The prosecution argued that the defendants were guilty of murder, kidnapping and false imprisonment through joint enterprise.
