Icah Peart QC of Garden Court Chambers represented Tashika Mothen, a young mother who was charged with four others on indictment alleging against her that she threatened to kill, possessed a firearm, attempted to murder two men by shooting, committed two offences of GBH and two offences of ABH.
Tashika Mothen was remanded in custody from the date of the alleged offences on 4th February this year until July, when Icah Peart QC got her out on bail. She was, at the time, seven months pregnant with her 4th child, to whom she gave birth in October.
The trial took place in the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands and started on 20th November and came to an end on 13 December with her acquittal on all counts. The case was very high profile in the Cayman Islands, and was prosecuted by the Deputy DPP.
Icah was instructed by Amelia Fosuhene from Brady Solicitors.
The trial was reported on Cayman 27.
