The Garden Court International Advice and Litigation Team is gaining momentum as members have confirmed that they will be participating in three high-profile projects over the coming months.
Brenda Campbell and Icah Peart will be delivering a two-week course in September on Criminal Practice and Procedure at the new Tanzania Law School in Dar es Salaam. The training is a joint project between the Bar Human Rights Committee and the International Lawyers Project, a charity that focuses on legal infrastructure and capacity building, legal training and access to law.

Additionally, Brenda Campbell will be attending a global workshop on strategic litigation support for the OP- ICESCR in New York in October. The Optional Protocol to the International Covenant for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (OP-ICESCR) ushers in a new era for human rights accountability at the international level, in which the adjudication and enforcement of economic, social and cultural rights will be engaged for the first time. Increasing numbers of national level organisations around the world are building capacity to advance economic, social and cultural rights claims before domestic and international courts or tribunals, and within human rights institutions. Brenda will be attending the workshop on behalf of International Women's Rights Action Watch Asia Pacific, an NGO which works for the progressive interpretation and realisation of the human rights of women through international human rights treaties.

Marc Willers returns to Armenia in September to assist as an expert for the EU's project 'Support for Access to Justice in Armenia' with the creation of a School for Advocates. Marc has been involved for some time in advising on the establishment of legal training as a route to supporting a reliable, open and independent judiciary.
