Kathryn has an extensive and varied immigration, asylum and family law practice. She is known for her representation of vulnerable clients, in particular asylum and human rights cases involving women and children. Kathryn is ranked for immigration (Band 1) and family law in Chambers UK 2023.
"Every conversation with her is like a masterclass", said one colleague. When receiving the award, Kathryn spoke about the camaraderie that this legal aid community creates, which keeps us all here for a long time. Her advice to young lawyers was; "focus on the client, focus on the work, and seek the assistance and mentorship of people around you."
Kathryn was shortlisted alongside Antonia Benfield of Doughty Street Chambers and David Gardner of No5 Chambers.
The LALY awards are organised by Legal Aid Practitioners Group on a not-for-profit basis; this year, there were 12 award categories in total; and the trophies were presented by Baroness Helena Kennedy KC. A full list of finalists can be found here.
