On 24 September 2016, the Association of Sri Lankan Lawyers in the UK (ASLLUK) held their annual Immigration, Asylum and Human Rights Update. Lalith de Kauwe of Garden Court Chambers spoke at the event, held at BPP University.
Lalith shared his experiences as a black lawyer who has often represented people from minority communities. He highlighted the importance of lawyers continuing to develop their skills and experience to best represent and protect vulnerable clients.
Other speakers included Mr Wasantha Tennakoon, the General Secretary of ASLLUK, Mr Azhar Chohan, and Ms Ripon Akhter of 1 Pump Court Chambers.
