Louise Hooper, in her capacity as Council of Europe expert on migration and gender, will deliver training and participate in round table discussions.
The Council of Europe and UNHCR are running a round table on Preventing, Combating and Responding to Sexual and Gender Based Violence and Trafficking in Human Beings in the Context of Migration and Asylum which will be held on 16 October 2017 in Madrid.
Louise Hooper is going to provide training on Council of Europe standards with a focus on Articles 60 and 61 of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (the Istanbul Convention).
She will also participate in a round table discussion: 'How to implement international and Council of Europe standards aimed at preventing, combating and responding to sexual and gender-based violence in the context of migration and asylum?'
The event will be filmed and video streamed and the webcast will be available as of 8.15am (GMT) on 16 October.
Louise Hooper has nearly 20 years' experience as a lawyer specialising in cases involving gender-based violence, trafficking, domestic violence and asylum claims based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Louise also works for the Council of Europe as a migration and gender expert and participated in the GREVIO delegation to monitor Austria’s compliance with the Istanbul Convention and as part of a group of experts developing the forthcoming HELP online training course.
