Michael Ivers QC, of the Garden Court Chambers Crime Team, secured an acquittal for both murder and attempted murder for Shaan Mir.
Mr Ivers QC led Neena Crinnion of 3 Temple Gardens and was instructed by Richard Cronin of O'Keeffe Solicitors.
Michael Ivers QC secured an acquittal for both murder and attempted murder for Shaan Mir at the Guildford Crown Court. The charges arose after an incident at a car park in Walton-on-Thames where the defendant was originally alleged to have deliberately driven over the two men and then reversed over them up to 4 times.
There were a large number of eye-witnesses and a compelling counter-narrative was developed in cross-examination concerning an original attack on the defendant and the ongoing impact of it. This was combined with a careful analysis of the pathology and neuropathology evidence in establishing the likely timing of the fatal injury. The defendant was convicted of manslaughter.
