Garden Court is proud to announce that Nadine Finch has received the Children's Champion Award 2011 from the children's charity ECPAT UK.
ECPAT UK, which stands for End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and the Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes, works to end the exploitation of children in the UK and internationally. In particular, the charity focuses on protecting trafficked children, something Nadine has fought for both in court and through her policy advice work and training.
ECPAT UK makes the award annually to a person or organisation that has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to children, going beyond their normal call of duty. After considering several nominations, ECPAT UK's trustees and staff unanimously agreed that Nadine's work over the past year and her commitment to ECPAT's values and mission made her stand out.
Nadine received the award on Monday at a meeting of the Trafficking Law & Policy Forum, of which she is a founder.
Making the award, ECPAT UK's Deputy Director Colin Walker said "ECPAT UK is in no doubt that Nadine is a hugely worthy winner of this year's Children's Champion Award. ECPAT UK would like to thank Nadine for her commitment to child protection and to ECPAT UK's core values - to fight against child trafficking, to protect children in tourism and child victims of trafficking".
Accepting her award, Nadine said "I was very surprised and pleased to accept this award. I have been working on behalf of children who have been trafficked for two decades now and compared to then the awareness of this gross human rights abuse has improved to a certain extent. However, much more needs to be done to identify and protect these children. I hope to continue to play my part in this."
