Nicola Braganza of Garden Court Chambers has appeared in the Supreme Court in the seminal indirect discrimination case of Essop v The Home Office (UK Border Agency) [2015] EWCA Civ 609.
The case was heard alongside Naeem v Secretary of State for Justice [2015] EWCA Civ 1264, on 14 and 15 November 2016. Nicola is instructed alongside Karon Monaghan QC of Matrix Chambers. They represent 49 claimants in test claims for race and age indirect discrimination against the Home Office arising from its past promotion procedures and a skills assessment test. The point turns on the application of section 19 (2) (b) and (c) of the Equality Act 2010 and will impact on all indirect discrimination cases.
Nicola Braganza is a member of Garden Court’s Public, Employment and Immigration Law Teams. She and Karon Monaghan QC are instructed in this case by Kate Lea of Thompsons Solicitors.
