Five Palestine Action protestors, represented by Owen Greenhall and Audrey Cherryl Mogan of the Garden Court Protest Team, have been found not guilty of conspiracy to commit criminal damage.
The Defendants were accused of damaging a building at 77 Kingsway, which housed the headquarters of Elbit UK, an arms manufacturing company. The Defendants were protesting about Elbit UK’s role in the manufacture of armed drones. In October 2020, the Defendants took part in a protest in which they sought to create a “river of blood” flowing down Kingsway, using red paint to symbolise the deaths of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. They were accused of damaging the building with the paint.
In their defence, they argued that the owners of the building would have consented to any minimal damage had they known of the circumstances of the protest. They were unanimously found not guilty by a jury at Southwark Crown Court.
