The three-day hearing, starting today, at the Supreme Court will determine whether the UK government's plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda is lawful.
This follows the Court of Appeal ruling in June 2023 which found that there are shortcomings in the asylum system in Rwanda which means that removing asylum seekers there would be in breach of Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights – the prohibition on torture and inhuman or degrading treatment.
The hearing has been widely covered in the press, including BBC News, Guardian, Financial Times, Independent, Reuters and many more.
