Statutory Homelessness: the latest Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) data on statutory homelessness was published on 5 September 2013. Between April – June 2013, there were 13,460 acceptances of the main housing duty by local housing authorities in England; up 5% from the same period in 2012. Click here to access the data.
Rough Sleeping: on 20 September 2013 the DCLG published updated guidance to assist Local Authorities in evaluating the extent of rough sleeping in their areas. The guidance emphasises that “[l]ocal authorities need a good understanding of this information as part of their local homelessness prevention efforts. This will allow them to commission services to prevent and tackle rough sleeping, and identify gaps in services.” Click here to access the guidance.
