Garden Court Chambers will be out en masse tomorrow to support the Save Justice demonstration outside the Ministry of Justice. Tuesday 4 June 2013 16:30-19:30 Venue: Ministry of Justice, 102 Petty France, SW1H 9AJ
The demonstration will bring together solicitors, case workers, barristers and campaigners from across the community, all of whom are concerned that the government's planned cuts to legal aid will be an affront to the administration of justice in the UK.
Speakers include Joint Head of Garden Court Chambers Stephen Knafler QC and other leading barristers, solicitors, and NGO leaders.
Those joining the demonstration will be arguing that the government's proposals will:
- make government bodies less accountable
- exclude vulnerable individuals including migrants and prisoners from accessing justice
- destroy the quality of criminal defence
Barristers, pupils and staff from Garden Court Chambers will be attending and we would encourage anybody who is able to do so to join us. This is a unique opportunity to show the government and the Justice Secretary just how strongly those who are involved in delivering legal advice to the most vulnerable in society feel about the destruction of our public services.
