Stephen Simblet wrote a Comment piece in the Mail on Sunday on 7 November, relating to concerns at the routine granting of anonymity to police marksmen at inquests.
Commenting on the issues raised at the inquest of Mark Saunders, Stephen wrote:
"As a barrister who has for many years represented the bereaved families of people who died in police custody, I believe this case is a perfect illustration of why granting almost automatic anonymity to firearms officers is a dangerous development that undermines the credibility of the inquest system and erodes trust in the police."
