Nicola Braganza of Garden Court Chambers’ Immigration: Asylum and Human Rights Team, recently travelled with a local volunteer group to the Calais ‘Jungle’ and Dunkirk camps.
Nicola has recounted stories of police brutality, horrific conditions (particularly for the many children) and a land with no lawyers, no safeguards and no human rights monitors. Her full account is available via the Free Movement blog. If you would like to help, you can donate funds to Marianne Humbersot, a lawyer from Lawyers for Migrants who is the only person offering legal help to those living in the camps. Money raised will help recruit more assistance, secure accommodation and assist all those living in the camps who are in desperate need.
