Within his new appointment to the HLPA Executive, Tim will be able to use his social housing law expertise to benefit an organisation dedicated to promoting equal access to the legal system, developing the rights of the homeless and promoting high standards in the provision of housing.
Commenting on his appointment, Tim has said:
“It is a privilege to join the executive of such an important and influential practitioner association.
Preservation of social housing and the impact of the growth of homelessness, as well as welfare reform, legal aid cuts, and growing restrictions on access to affordable suitable accommodation for everyone, make housing a pressing social and political issue. Given the forthcoming election, this is of particular importance in the context of central and local government cuts.
Hopefully, through HLPA executive, I can assist in some way so that all people in the UK, including the most vulnerable in our society, have somewhere stable, affordable, decent and safe to call home.”
Tim’s practice covers general housing law, homelessness, and the allocation of social housing together with community care. He specialises in housing cases where the tenant has mental health or capacity issues and specialist community care needs.
Tim Baldwin is a member of the Housing Team at Garden Court Chambers.
