Two men have been charged with the rape of Anne-Marie Ellement. Anne-Marie, a Royal Military Police soldier, had alleged that she was raped by two soldiers whilst posted in Germany in 2009 after which she was subjected to a campaign of rape-related bullying.
At the inquest into her death last year, the Coroner found that the effect of an alleged rape had been one of the contributing factors to Anne-Marie’s self-inflicted death. Kirsten Heaven represented the family of Anne-Marie at the inquest.
The case has been widely reported in the media, including by the BBC, The Independent and The Telegraph.
More information can be found in Liberty’s press release.
Kirsten Heaven, of Garden Court Chambers’ Inquests Team, was instructed by Emma Norton of Liberty during the inquest.
