Harry is building a practice in actions against the police and state, inquests and inquiries, protest rights and mental health law.

Alongside her human rights and civil liberties practice, Harry has a particular interest in immigration detention, as well as regularly appearing in immigration appeals in the First-Tier Tribunal.

Harry is developing a practice in administrative and public law. Harry has a particular interest in challenges concerning detention in immigration detention, prisons and psychiatric hospitals.

Asylum & Immigration

Harry has a strong background in immigration law, and has expertise across a broad spectrum of statutory appeals, including asylum, family reunion and human rights appeals. Harry’s practice draws distinctly upon her time spent as a caseworker in the UK and in Athens, and she prioritises a trauma-informed and integrated approach. Harry has a particular interest in challenging immigration detention, drawing on her civil liberties practice, and has extensive experience in obtaining immigration bail for vulnerable clients.

Inquests and Inquiries

Harry is developing a practice in inquests and inquiries. Harry is a member of the INQUEST Lawyers Group, and worked with her supervisor Stephen Simblet KC and others on Article 2 inquests as a pupil. Harry has experience representing families at pre-inquest review hearings.

Claims Against the Police and Public Authorities

Harry is building a broad practice in claims against the police and public authorities, and regularly advises Claimants in claims against the police including false imprisonment, assault, malicious prosecution, misfeasance in public office and claims under the Human Rights Act 1998. During her pupillage, Harry worked with Stephen Simblet KC on a number of highly specialist claims against the police.

Education Law

Harry regularly represents parents and families before the First-Tier Tribunal (SEND) Education, Health and Care Plan appeals and disability discrimination claims, as well as advising on breach of contract and negligence claims, challenging decisions in the higher education setting and representing parents in school complaint proceedings.

Harry has a particular interest in challenging decisions to permanently exclude children from school, and accepts regular instruction, often pro bono, in this regard.

Harry is seeking to build a practice in mental health law. Harry worked with Stephen Simblet KC acting for detained patients in the First-Tier Tribunal (Mental Health) during her pupillage.

Background

Prior to coming to the bar, Harry worked as an immigration caseworker for Refugee Legal Support (RLS) in London and Athens. She ran the Family Reunion from Europe project, providing legal assistance to displaced people struggling to reunite in the UK post-Brexit, and spent two years provided voluntary legal support in Greece.

She was also part of the Actions Against the Police and State team at Bindmans LLP, where she worked on civil claims and complaints against the police, inquests arising out of deaths in state custody, and cases concerning vulnerable adults unlawfully detained in immigration detention. Harry was a research assistant on an independent report on Injustice in Immigration Detention, commissioned by the Bar Council. Harry has extensive experience working with children and adults at risk, and prioritises a trauma-informed legal practice.
